One of the greatest cars ever made, and probably
the most recognisable classic in the world. There is even an example
in the New York, Museum of Modern Art.
The Jaguar E-Type is without doubt one of the landmarks in sports
car history.
William Lyons lithe styling turns heads today as surely as it did
when the car was first launched in 1961. The performance was always
stunning from all variants and the Series 3 being the first application
of Jaguar's majestic V12 power unit is no exception, with over 270
remarkably smooth horsepower, and a whopping 304 lbs ft of torque
on tap to propel this E Type to claimed maximum (non-recommended)
speeds of up to 150 mph.
Many car manufacturers - including Jaguar - have tried subsequently
to recreate the special blend of sensations offered by the E-type,
but have never matched the pure thrill of the original.
Our car, is a 1974 Series 3 Roadster with 4
speed manual transmission, power steering and brakes, with white
coachwork, a blue leather interior and blue mohair hood. This car
has been in local Norwich ownership since new, and comes with a
comprehensive full history including a copy of the original green
logbook and a Heritage Certificate. The car was Ziebart rust proofed
when new and has been regularly waxoiled since. There has been extensive
expenditure on sensible (and invisible) upgrades, and it has been
maintained regardless of cost. This E Type is therfore in very good
condition and is an extremely rewarding 'tight' drive - not the
usual floppy worn out rubbish.
Upgrades include Koni dampers, CMC Jaguar uprated
front torsion bars and front anti-roll bar, and a really nice period
style Motolita steering wheel. Fitted with Minilite alloy wheels
mounted on high performance correct size Pirelli tyres, and there
is also a set of standard Jaguar chrome wheels. This car is suitable
as an extremely stylish and relaxed open-air sports Grand Tourer
and with this specification may
be used for historic regularity rallying.
Taxed and
supplied with 12 months MOT and a service this splendid E Type represents
excellent value in todays rising market.
